Today i got to see a new side to my dad....My father is not much of a story teller but today he seemed to be very nostalgic as he spoke about his childhood and his father...I've only seen my grandpa in old family pictures as he passed away when i was a little baby, but i have heard a lot about his dynamic personality and positive nature from my mother...but today it was different to hear about him from my dad...
As my dad spoke sipping his sugarless cup of tea, It really made me wonder how my grandpa's decisions made back then are the sole reason of the quality of life we are leading today....
He had 11 children and the only source of income was a shop he owned...
It was only his determination and willingness to educate all his children and make them capable enough to lead a better life...
It was only because he understood the importance of education that lets me lead a comfortable and carefree life that i have...
"Struggle"...do we really understand what struggle is??...I certainly doubt that...struggle is probably what our grandparents and to a large extent what our parents went through...
All that we can do is acknowledge their struggle and thank them for giving us the life that we have.... :)

ReplyDeleteGr8 blog Chandoba (sorry if they don't call u that anymore). I am surprised that u don't have more followers. Maybe one way to connect with your distant friends would be to invite them for a peek into you daily life.
ReplyDeleteHmm... Your latest piece has a good story. It is true that the generation before us did struggle a lot. What they have achieved is indeed admirable. So much so that I often use their rate of advance as a scale to measure my own. If they could get so far, we should get farther(partly because of "hum unse kam nahi" attitude). I feel everyone WILL go through struggles in life, no matter which century they live in. As long as there is ambition, there will be strife.
thanks sharath!...and not very surprisingly people still call me tht :|!!...but still i believe that the amount of struggle that they went through is always going to be much higher than what we might might ever get to experience!..or at least that's what i hope! :)
ReplyDeletehe he.... :) i'll give that to you... hope we ARE spared of such herculean struggles... So looking forward to your next thought provoking post...tc.
